As promised previously, here’s the next in the series. John Landis directed Animal House, Trading Places, Three Amigos, Thriller and American Werewolf in London amongst others. But he also worked in the studio system starting as a post boy, got to meet loads of interesting and different journeyman actors and directors (including Hitchcock), worked behind the Iron Curtain on Kellys Heroes and did rewrites on Bond films.

Give this vid from the Kevin Pollack Chat Show a watch – it’s over 2 1/2 hours and worth it (there’s an audio only version to stick on the ipod to enliven that bring bus ride to work). Also recommended for a listen are Jason Alexander, JK Simmons, Illeana Douglas, Billy West & John DiMaggio and Tom Lennon.

Lady Gaga Illustration

I was commissioned before Christmas to illustrate a Lady Gaga print for a certain young ladies Xmas present.

The main problem with this one was where do you start – she has buckets of costumes and looks. For a while I was mucking around with the lobster head piece and seeing what I could do with that, but in the end I went with the Poker Face silver bob and shiny lights combo as I just like the colours.

Ready Steady Bang is a great little game for the ipod/iphone by a former workmate of mine Ed Barrett and design consultancy Chambers Judd.

If you remember playing Slaps at school (not your happy slapping), then this is along the same lines. Two cowboys face each other to duel, a countdown is started – Ready Steady Bang – and the quickest to nail their competition by tapping the fastest wins that round.

It’s simple and addictive idea, with the infuriation of being too slow to beat the different cowboys offset by the many varied death animations. Where it really shines though is the two player mode, this video explains it best (with girlish giggles):

It’s £0.69p – give it a go.
